Client:
Drunken Sailor Farm

Deliverables:

Custom Logo + Visual Identity

Challenge:

Create a custom logo for a small farm and agricultural cooperative in Boise, Idaho

Outcome:

Making a great first impression every time.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The farm receives unsolicited attention from people from all over, when they see the branded farm truck rolling by.

STRATEGY + APPROACH

Through a business discovery session, we prioritized the challenges of incorporating their family roots, agriculture and their notorious "sailor's mouths" into their visual identity. We created something that has room for growth, and even for a potential relocation to Alaska.

DEFINING THE BRAND

The concept chosen is unique, home grown, and rough around the edges, just like the farm itself. The brand colors encompass both land and sea. The typography is textured and old-fashioned. The art is 100% original.

UNDERSTANDING THE INDUSTRY

To understand the needs of the farming industry, I worked closely with the owner. This also allowed me the opportunity to find a "sweet spot" in pirate puns, which were brought in throughout the website.

"I greatly underestimated the power of a good biz name and great logo!"

- Kendra Damnjanovic, Drunken Sailor Farm, Boise, ID

THE OUTCOME?

The owner gets a lot of unexpected attention over her logo. She gets stopped by people wanting to know more about her company, and has even been waved down three hours outside of town. Kendra has started keeping stickers in her truck because of it.

The farm is thriving, and has grown to offer seasonal vegetable CSAs, Grow-Your-Own kits, and even a Grow-Yourself Experience on the farm.
