PYRAU

A startup offering innovative equipment and solutions for the wildland fire industry. Inspired by they mythical “Pyrausta,” a winged dragon born of fire, this project embodies themes of resilience, regeneration, and comfort within challenging environments.

The logo needed to:

  • represent a high-quality wildland fire equipment startup manufacturer, and convey innovative solutions and precision gear.

  • represent fire, particularly living within fire comfortably, and reference the Greek Pyrausta creature, incorporating fire, a winged dragon, and/or a salamander. 

  • be unique and beautiful to develop a strong brand awareness and brand loyalty to products and services.

  • be versatile and relevant to work effectively on garments, gear and footwear, as well as product packaging, signs and banners, business cards, promotional items, and digital platforms.

Development

Sketches ranged from literal depictions of dragons and salamanders to more abstract representations of fire and the letter P. 

 

Client collaboration was key throughout. Early drafts sparked discussions about how to best balance symbolism with practicality, and creativity with precision.

The Logo

The final PYRAU logo achieves a striking balance of mythology, precision, and brand resonance. It is unique and versatile.

Color + Type

The brand colors embrace innovation with a bold and dynamic palette designed to stand out while fostering a strong sense of brand loyalty.

 

The typography blends a technical, modern aesthetic with trustworthy and knowledgeable undertones. Paired with a clean and approachable sans serif typeface, this combination creates a versatile and legible brand type kit that reflects the brand’s precision and expertise.

The Outcome

The final logo positions PYRAU as a leader in the wildland fire industry, offering not just durable equipment and technical gear, but an identity that inspires loyalty and pride.
